Mussoorie- As we all know is The queen of hills and one of the most visited hill stations in India, and you should also know that Mussoorie is the most happening place in Uttrakhand apart from Nainital (here "happening" is related to the vibe and the crowd it has in the night throughout the year which you usually don't find anywhere else in Uttarakhand) and being so close to Delhi makes it more appealing and easily reachable weekend gateway. Let me tell you one more interesting thing about Mussoorie I heard from one of the local people here that Mussoorie is only the second place in the world from where a Winterline can be seen(the other one is Switzerland in the Alps), I was not fortunate enough to see that due to cloudy weather but hope you guys see this  So coming back to the topic.

HOW TO REACH MUSSOORIE FROM DELHI:

It can be reached directly only by road as there is no railway station or airport in Mussoorie as such So for the travelers especially those coming from Delhi can opt these options to reach here

By Car(personal vehicle)

It is around 309KM from Delhi which usually takes around 5-6 hours depending upon the traffic and your driving speed.

Budget: Petrol car- Rs.1650-1950, Diesel car- Rs.1500-1800, CNG car- Rs.800 but in return journey you will need petrol to reach Dehradun or Rishikesh or even Haridwar.

Let me tell you one more thing CNG price in Uttarakhand is almost similar to that of diesel so consider it helpful for the one-way journey only. Still, yes average of the car increases on CNG sometimes nearly double so that will save a lot of money on your trip.

NOTE:-Mussoorie have a petrol pump just 3KM before the Library chowk/Mall road )

Pro tip- Refill your CNG in Haridwar or Dehradun(you will find one on the Dehradun-Mussoorie route as well) at the time of going to Mussoorie it will cover all your sightseeing visits and return to Dehradun, you can thank me later.

So Questions that normally come into the minds of travelers are:

What is the best time to visit Mussoorie? When should you plan this scenic trip?

mall-road-mussoorie-street-view-2022

So the answer to this question is "SUMMERS" between April to June which is also the peak season here as it provides the best scenic views during this season, (you can enjoy Kempty fall during this season) and for those who want to enjoy the snowfall should visit around December to February, preferably mid-January to witness the chilling and breathtaking snow filled panoramic view of Mussoorie. I would suggest just avoiding the Monsoon from July to August as you don’t want to be in your hotel all the time while you visit Mussorie and rest you can visit in any month or season, you won’t regret it.

The next thing asked more frequently is:

PLACES TO VISIT IN MUSSOORIE:

Library Bazaar/Mall Road

library-bazaar-mall-road-mussoorie-night-view

Cloud's End-

while you visit here, do remember not to stop at the cloud’s end resort where most people stop and return, so simply continue to the road going downwards after the resort you will reach the actual cloud’s end.

Kempty Falls

George Everest Peak-

My personal favorite, do visit and if you are physically fit, do trekking to the top of George Everest, you won't regret to trust me and if you are carrying any bags or anything try to leave them in the hotel or in your vehicle if possible as 100g of weight at the base will feel like a Kg during the trek so plan accordingly.

Lal Tibba Scenic Point

There are also places which can be explored if you have a little more time like:

  • Gun Hill Point(2nd highest peak in Mussoorie)
  • Jharipaani Falls
  • Mussoorie Lake
  • Camel's Back Road
  • Company Garden

So the most important question usually asked by people that

How many days should be ideal for the Mussoorie trip?

I’ll suggest a minimum of 2 days is required for the hassle-free roaming around after arrival in Mussoorie so plan accordingly. remember your traveling time from your native places is not considered in these 2 days.

Must try street foods in Mussoorie?

Aloo Ke gutkha (no rocket science it is of potatoes and fried spices), Kafuli/Kapaa(spinach curry popular in winters), Phaanu(made with lentils that include gahat dal), Chainsoo (prepared using various dals and local masalas), Bhang ki chutney(yep you guessed that right it is of hemp seeds and we all know what taste it can bring)

There are other dishes too which you can try like Garhwal ka Hannah, kababs, chili chicken, cakes and many more on the streets of Mussoorie.

Things to keep in mind before coming to Mussoorie:

Check your hotel location from the library chowk, If coming from a personal vehicle check the hotel parking facilities and route carefully.

Finally, I left you with the mesmerizing Photos of Mussoorie so even after consuming all the information still you didn’t make the Mussoorie trip what are you waiting for go pack your bag and enjoy this beautiful place of our loving country.
